Hermantown’s Planning and Zoning Commission is responsible to hear and review a variety of permits and developments, as well as zoning ordinance matters. The Planning and Zoning Commission makes important recommendations to Hermantown’s City Council, but does approve Commercial Industrial Development Permits (CIDPs).

This group handles Special Use Permits, Subdivision Plat Approval, Planned Unit Developments (PUDs), Grading and Filling Permits, Commericial and Industrial Development Permits, and issues regarding Hermantown’s zoning.

The Planning and Zoning Commission meets monthly on the third Tuesday at 7 p.m. at City Hall, except when that date is impacted by holidays.

Current members of this commission are Joe Peterson (Chair), Corey Kolquist, Tracy Lundeen, Valarie Ouellette, Sam Clark, and Greg Zimmerman. There is one current opening on this commission. Residents interested in potentially serving on the Planning and Zoning Commission should complete an application here. The City Council will be appointing a new liaison in late July of 2020, and Community Development Director Eric Johnson represents the city staff.
