Absentee Ballots - Election Day Registration - Voter Qualifications - Precincts

 

 

Listed below are the following categories based upon Minnesota State Statues: Absentee Ballots; Voter Registration on Election Day; Qualifications for Voters; and Precincts within the City.

ABSENTEE BALLOTS are restricted to the following persons:

 

  1. Those absent from the voting precinct on the day of the election.
  2. Those that by reason of illness or physical disability, are unable to go to the polling place in their precinct.
  3. Voters who, because of religious discipline or the observance of a religious holiday, are unable to go the polling places on Election Day.
  4. Election judges in precincts other than their own.

 

REGISTRATION ON ELECTION DAY:  Be sure to bring along proof of residence.  As proof of residence, any one of the following is authorized.

 

  1. Valid Minnesota driver’s license or learner’s permit (or receipt for either) showing current address in precinct
  2. Valid Minnesota identification card (or receipt) showing current address or one of the above with a former address and a current utility bill
  3. Tribal ID
  4. A current utility bill with a photo ID card
  5. U. S. passport with current utility bill
  6. U. S.  military ID card with current utility bill
  7. Oath of a voter registered in the precinct, who is not a challenger, signed in the presence of a judge who also signs the oath
  8. "Notice of ineffective registration”
  9. Valid registration in the same precinct
  10. Students may use:
    • Student ID card
    • fee statement
    • student registration card with current address on it
    • a certified student list with current address & student photo ID
    • a utility bill with current address & student ID card
     

QUALIFICATIONS FOR VOTERS:  To vote in any election in Minnesota, you must be:

 

  1. 18 or more years of age on the day of the election
  2. A citizen of the United States
  3. A resident of the state for at least 20 days

 

All three precincts will be open from 7:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M.

 

Precinct 1 - Administrative Services Bldg. 5105 Maple Grove Rd.

Precinct 2 - Grace Lutheran Church, 5454 Miller Trunk Hwy

Precinct 3 - Salem Lutheran Church, 4715 Hermantown Road

 

* - If you have not voted in the last four years, changed your name or address, you must re-register on Election Day at your precinct.
