Welcome to the City of Hermantown web site.

Hermantown became a city on December 31, 1975 and since then has experienced many changes.  The population has grown from 6,750 in 1980 to an estimated 9,318 in 2007.  The City Administrator works closely with the City Council and city staff to:

  • Coordinate and direct the operations of the City government.
  • Recommend the appointment and removal of all city department heads.
  • Prepare and submit the annual budget.
  • Control and direct administrative affairs of the city.
  • Recommend such measures deemed necessary for the welfare of the citizens.

The organization exists to serve the community, and is dedicated to do so with professionalism and teamwork supported by visionary leadership and planning with fiscal responsibility.

If you have any questions about City government, please contact us at (218) 729-3600.
