PARK BOARD SEEKS PUBLIC INPUT TO DRAFT MASTER TRAILS PLAN

The Hermantown Park Board has prepared a draft Master Trails Plan for walking, running, hiking, and biking trails and paths in the City.  The draft plan calls for construction of non-motorized trails at Fichtner Field, Stebner Park and Keene Creek Park.  The Plan identifies existing sidewalks and bike paths than can link the new trails to activity centers like the schools and city parks.  The draft plan identifies opportunities for future off road trails that would utilize existing power line, pipeline and utility easements but does not propose to acquire any easements or construct those trails at this time.  The draft plan also seeks to preserve opportunities to link Hermantown trails to similar trails in Duluth and Proctor.  Interested citizens should direct comments on the draft plan to the Hermantown Park Board.
